Seiken Densetsu 2 Weapon Experience System Even today, 8 years or so after SD2's US release, the mechanics of gaining weapon levels is still misunderstood by many. So here's the lowdown. Essentially, Weapon experience is identical to magic experience (i.e., a character gets (9 - current weapon level) for every enemy they kill). However, there are two differences: 1) The companions of the character who delivered the final blow to an enemy will recieve one half of the experence (rounded down) that the killing character (hereafter abbreviated KC) received. 2) If the KC is 2 or more levels higher than the enemy killed, the KC will only get ((9 - current weapon level) / 2) (rounded down). Here's a chart that should help: LV - Weapon Level KC<= - Experience earned by the KC when KC's level is at most one level higher than the enemy's. C<= - Experience earned by companions of the above KC. KC> - Experience earned by KC when KC is at least 2 levels higher than the enemy. C> - Experience earned by companions of the above KC. LV KC<= C<= KC> C> ---------------------------------- 0 9 4 4 2 1 8 4 4 2 2 7 3 3 1 3 6 3 3 1 4 5 2 2 1 5 4 2 2 1 6 3 1 1 0 7 2 1 1 0 8 1 0 0 0 Some other notes: - If enough experience is gained to put a weapon's experience counter above 99, the counter will be set equal to 99, unless the weapon is not at its maximum level. In that case, the weapon will gain a level and the counter will reset to 0. - Obviously, the best way to get a weapon to 8:99 is to have a companion use an extremely low level weapon. Raising a level 8 weapon directly is possible, but only until level 70. (The highest leveled regular enemy in the game is the level 69 Terminator, in the mana fortress.) - No, there's no real point in raising weapons to 8:99. It just looks cool. :) (C) 2002 Zach Keene
